Instructions for Making Container/Jar Candles with Enchanted Lites Soy

Materials Equipment
Enchanted Lites Soy Candle Wax Double Boiler
Containers/Jars for Candles Thermometer for Candle Making
Fragrance Oil/Scent Pouring Pot
Liquid Dye Scale
Wick or Wicks Oven
Weigh Wax:
  • Weigh the amount of Enchanted Lites Soy candle wax needed for your project.
  • Consult our Containers/Glass Jars for Candles page to see how much wax each of our jars will hold.
Melt Wax:
  • Heat Enchanted Lites Soy candle wax to between 140°F-160°F using a double-boiler system.
  • Use a candle thermometer to check temperature.
  • Do not heat wax over 200° F, Vegetable waxes are subject to thermal degradation and yellowing.
Pre-Heat:
  • Pre-Heat Containers/jars in oven at 140°F or at lowest setting.
Add Scent:
  • Add up to 10% fragrance by melted wax weight not to exceed 1-1/2  ounce of scent to 1 pound of wax.
Add Dye:
  • Add dye until desired color is achieved.
  • You can test color by dropping a few drops of wax onto a piece of white paper.
Stir well:
  • Stir thoroughly to incorporate scent and dye.
Pour Wax:
  • Lower the pouring temperature to between 90°F - 110°F.
  • Pour into Containers/jars  that have been preheated to between 130°F - 140°F.  This allows for better side adhesion.
Types of Wicks:
Insert Wick:
  • Once the candle wax has solidified about ¼ inch at bottom place the appropriate wick in the Containers/jars.
Cooling:
  • Allow to cool as slowly as possible.
  • Do not place in a water bath or refrigerator to accelerate the cooling process.
Re-pour:
  • Top off if needed.
Trim Wick:
  • When the candle has completely cooled trim wick.

Never melt wax on a gas stove, it has a Flash Point & is Flammable.
Never leave wax unattended.
